‘I have made headway in Liberia’s Gospel Music Industry’ ….Says Minister Vinton

It was in the late 1980s under the administration of Former Liberia’s President Samuel Kanyon Doe that gospel music begun to gradually attract public attention through Gospel Singer, Evelyn Marsh but was disrupted during the outbreak of the 1990 civil war.

But the gospel music industry in Liberia was reawakening through Gospel Singer, Marion Dwah Cassell during the regime of Former President Charles G. Taylor when she released her album “Liberia You are Lifted”, in latter part of 1990s.

From that time onwards, many other Liberian Gospel Musicians have emerged, releasing gospel songs that continue to make mark in Liberia, the Continent of Africa, Europe and the United States of America and elsewhere, and amongst them, were Abigail Omega Nyepah Vinton.

Madam Nyepah is one of Liberia’s inspirational Gospel Singers who have won several Gospel Music awards since she began her journey in the Gospel Music Industry in the mid-2000.

In 2008 – 2009, she recorded and launched her first album titled:” Lord I Appreciate You”, and in less than two years, in 2011, she released her second album titled: “Speak Lord”.

SPEAK LORD”, which is her second album, Gospel Minister speaking to some journalists in Brewerville, outside Monrovia, disclosed that that song put her on the map as it was ranged as one of Liberia's best, which she was able the sale over hundreds of copies on music market in the country, with another song titled: “God You Know”.

In 2012, she won four awards; Best Inspirational Song of the Year, Best Reggae Song of the Year, Best Video of the Year and Best Album of the Year.

Besides, in 2010 she won the Best Female Artist of the Year and latest was 2019 GSA award from the United States of America (USA).

Madam Vinton attributed her successes in the Gospel Music Industry, despite the many challenges face in the wake of composing, production, concerts, theatre, among others to engineers Mr. Charles Reaves and OJ Records.

There have been financial struggles for the fact that piracy has been the order of the day and there has been lots of lost in the income of Gospel Musicians, which I am of no exception”, Madam Vinton stressed.

She further disclosed that up to present, she was able to record and released four albums; promising to produce more inspiring and soul-winning gospel by the help of God who have called her to this Ministry of singing.

Madam Vinton is at the same time calling on Gospel Musicians in Liberia to hold together and work collaboratively to make the sector more impressive by producing songs that will be of international standards that will place them on world stage.
